Methane ebullition was monitored at four headwater streams during 2018 and 2019. Stationary bubble traps were deployed from approximately May through October. CC and SB were monitored in 2018 and 2019, while DB and CB were only monitored in 2019. 12 traps were deployed at CC, SB, and DB, and 9 traps were deployed at CB. The concentration measured in the emitted gas was multiplied by the volume measured in a trap to calculated the total methane flux via ebullition. The traps were visited at least once weekly.
Sediment, stream, and canopy characteristics were measured in four headwater streams in Massachusetts and New Hampshire associated with methane ebullition monitoring. Canopy cover, water depth, sediment organic matter content, the percent sediment less than 2mm in diameter, sediment depth, sediment percent carbon, and sediment percent nitrogen were measured.

Measurements of water table height in the Nelson Island marsh located near Nelson Island eddy flux tower, Rowley MA. Measurements were taken every 5 minutes at each logger along a transect of water level loggers running perpendicular to the Nelson stream bank at Nelson Island, MAR-PR-Wtable-Nel for April-November 2019.
Measurements of water table height in the Shad Creek marsh located near the Shad Creek eddy flux tower, Rowley, MA. Measurements were taken every 5 minutes at each logger along a transect of water level loggers running perpendicular to the Nelson stream bank at Nelson Island, MAR-PR-Wtable-Shad for April-November 2019.
Year 2020, 15 minute measurements of water column temperature, salinity, oxygen and depth in Plum Island Sound at the Ipswich Bay Yacht Club, Ipswich, MA. There were sifgnificant datalogger power, radio telecommunication and sonde cabling corrosion issues during the Covid-19 Spring - Fall of 2020. There are many missing data time periods due to issues and some limited field work capabilities due to Covid working restrictions.
Dissolved methane was measured in the surface water of four headwater streams during 2019.
Density (individuals per m2) of epibenthic invertebrate (on the surface such as snails and amphipods) for Rowley River tidal creeks associated with long term fertilization experiments, Rowley and Ipswich, MA. The TIDE project aims to simulate eutrophication on a large scale by the addition of NO3- aiming to reach 70μM concentrations from May to September every year during the growing season. Marsh fertilization from 2004 - 2016 at Sweeney Creek and 2005, and 2009-2016 at Clubhead Creek. Nutrient enrichment ended in 2016.
We deployed an eddy covariance system to measure ecosystem-atmosphere exchange of CO2 above a high marsh system (Spartina patens, short Spartina alterniflora) located on the Parker River Wildlife Refuge in marshes of Plum Island Sound, Rowley MA. The system is located near a higher elevation rock outcroppingprotected area which allows the tower set up to remain during the Winter as it is protected from ice flows. The data represents CO2 exchange for all 12 months of 2018.

We deployed an eddy covariance system to measure ecosystem-atmosphere exchange of CO2 above a low marsh system (Spartina alterniflora) located within the Shad creek catchment off Plum Island Sound, Rowley MA. The data represents CO2 exchange for early April through early November 2018. This site was established in 2015.

Water chemistry including nutrient concentrations for various forms of N, P, C, as well as suspended sediments and light extinction coefficients, are determined from bi-annual or tri-annual nutrient transects from the mouth of the Rowely River estuary to near its head about 6 km upstream. Three sets of grab samples and sonde measurements are taken at lower, mid, and upper stations of the estuary, at stations locations that may vary depending on the tide. These samples are generally collected in Spring, Summer, and Fall to capture conditions through the growing season.
To assess differences in trophic relationships and enerygy transfer related to long term fertilization of tidal creeks (TIDE Project: https://thetideproject.org/), organisms including primary producers, invertebrates, and fish were sampled and analyzed for stable isotopes of nitrogen (δ14N) , carbon (δ13C), and sulfur (δ34S). Collections were made during summers from 2000-2018 from reference and nutrient-enriched branches of 4 tidal creeks.
Multi-year transects, beginning in 2016, of the Rowley River Plum Island Sound Estuary, MA conducted at dawn and dusk, containing dissolved oxygen, conductivity, temperature, percent saturation, pH, DIC and pCO2 measurements. Differences between dawn and dusk measurements can be used to determine the water column metabolism and corresponding estimates of gross primary production, total system respiration and net ecosystem production
